He Never Wanted to Lead But Joshua’s Influence Changed Lives

Joshua Reyes never planned to become a leader. Yet, his heart for serving others led him to leadership roles in both school and his community.

Joshua proudly received multiple awards at his graduation. These honors recognized his dedication to leadership and service.

A hardworking student, Joshua balanced multiple responsibilities. He served as Vice President for Communications of his school’s Supreme Student Council. At the same time, he was the secretary of his barangay’s Sangguniang Kabataan. His passion for service opened doors. Because of this, he joined various student leadership conventions. Later, he was chosen to represent his school in Indonesia through the Student Internship Exchange Program of the SEA-TVET Consortium.

During his internship in Indonesia, Joshua gained valuable leadership experience on an international level.

Joshua’s dedication did not go unnoticed. He received the Leadership Award from his school and the Governor’s Leadership Excellence Award from the Province of Pangasinan. Still, for him, leadership was never about the titles.

On August 31, 2019, Joshua and his family shared a proud moment. He received the Leadership Award at our North and Central Luzon Graduation—an honor celebrating his servant leadership journey.

“I never aimed to be a leader. I simply volunteered, served my campus, my community, and my family. Most of all, I followed what God told me to do,” Joshua shares. “Then, I encouraged others to do the same. Hindi ako tinuruan na maging isang leader lang, kundi maging isang servant leader (I was taught not just to be a leader but a servant leader), showing others the way—just like Jesus did.”

To students searching for purpose, Joshua has one message: “Use your purpose to motivate others. Use your season to influence your generation. And use your story to inspire the next.”
