In 2017, my father needed a kidney transplant. I had to make trips alone to Manila from Batangas to process requirements for availing government assistance for the operation. It was about a year-long process.

During those times, I cried a lot to the Lord because there were moments when I was very exhausted. Sometimes I would take my exams in advance and even take my school work with me when I went to Manila. To keep me going, I just thought that nothing would compare to the joy I would feel when I see my family celebrating my father’s successful transplant.

My faith increased when I would line up for medicine. I asked my friends and coaches from church to pray for me and then everything I needed became possible. Everytime I lined before sunrise, I felt God sending me His angel. I felt God providing even the very jeepney, tricycle, and bus I rode. Even the government employees I had to talk to were kind to me.

One of the most remarkable times for me was when I had to sleep outside a government office the night before I was to get medicines so I could make the cut. I cried to the Lord before leaving the house because I was afraid as there was flooding in Manila due to a typhoon, but I really needed to get my father’s medicines.

On the bus from Batangas, I asked the Lord for a taxi where I would feel safe because it was already late in the night and I was scared to ride a taxi. But when I got off the bus, there was already one waiting for a passenger.

It turns out, the driver was from a barangay near ours in Batangas and we share the same faith. He brought me exactly where I needed to fall in line. I did not get wet by the rain at all!

And I have so many more stories that really strengthened my faith. Indeed, the Lord never let me down. He allows things to happen because He has a great purpose. Though we can't understand them yet, we can be sure that we are in good hands. We are assured that no matter what happens, at the end of it all, Jesus Christ is our reward.
